Hoo Are You?? and Tip Tuesday!!! July 27, 2010
Hey everyone sorry I was missing for a bit and that I haven’t posted up any new crafts. I am in the process of moving a new desk into my room, cleaning my extra living room, and organizing my crafts better. So almost all my crafts are put up right now. I did pull out a few things and I will share what I made soon. For now I am going to post Hoo are You? and Tip Tuesday. So lets get started:
1. Do you sing in the shower or car when no one else is listening?
I sing all the time everywhere even walking down the hallways at college. Most of the time my friends join in and sing with me, but I have got the odd glance from people who think I am talking to myself, but singing cheers me up.
2. Do you have a nickname you go by now or growing up?
Funny think is Neccie is my nickname!! I have had the nickname Neccie sine I was 2 days old. My mother and Aunt thought my first name and middle name where to formal to call a little girl. I am not telling you my frist name because I still hate it, but my middle name is Denise. Well my Aunt started calling me her little Neccie and the name stuck with me.
3. Do you speak another language?
I speak alittle Spanish and I can carry a conversation out to a certain point. I know a tiny bit of french as well, but other than that I speak English.
4. Where is you favorite vacation spot?
I don’t vaction much really. Heck to tell the truth if I go to a city thats 2 hours away I call that a vaction. I have been to KY a few times and I have to say if I have the chance I would go there every year.
5. What do you cook the most for dinner?
Alot of the time is Chicken. I know alot of ways to cook chicken and I really like it. I cook mostly dark meat, but I will make chicken tendors out of breast from time to time. I love fried chicken, but I cook chicken stew, chicken perlow, backed chicken, grilled chicken, chicken and rice, and the list goes on and on.
Well I don’t have many times this week because I was cleaning most of them time, but here are the tips I have: Add a small amount of water to your glue. I use tacky craft glue that comes in a brown bottle. You can buy it at any walmart for around 2 pr 3 dallors. I add a small amount of water to my glue to make it last longer. I just take a bowl, a paintbrush, and a small cup of water. I put a small amount of glue in the bowl, wet the paint brush and ring the water from the paintbrush in the bowl with the glue, then mix the water and glue together, and keep doing this till the glue is about half the thickness it started as. The glue will still be tacky and will spread a whole lot easier. You will save time and money. One more tip is on organizing your crafts. I have alot of small containers that I wanted to use up. So I placed things in my smaller containers and then placed the smaller containers in a larger one. That way they are all together, but still seperate. I hope my tips help you and thanks for reading this post.
Try This Thursday: Personal Tin July 22, 2010
Hi everybody! I just finished making today’s try this. My hands still have bits of dried glue on them still. I used alot of glue…….Take a look at some of the things I used:
I got the idea from A Girl and A Glue Gun. Here is her take on some really cute decorated tins. I had to try this out. I used an old pop rocks tin, magizine pages, sissors, fabric, carboard, and glue. I didn’t use the yellow or black scrapbook paper that was in the picture. I have two pair of sissors because your not suppose to use your fabric sissors on paper. I always try not to use my red sissors for nothing but, yarn and fabric. Okay back to the tin. I cut up small squares and made a mosic title look on top, and added two other decorative pieces. for the back I just cut out some of the magizine I had in a soild color and glued it to the back. The only hard part in the whole thing was glueing tiny squares….lol. I took the cardboard and cut out a pattern for the inside of the lid and cut out a piece of fabric and glued that in the inside. I then cut out another piece using the cardboard. Next I folded a small piece on the cardboard over and glued that to the inside of the tin so I had a flap to hide the bottom. Don’t glue the cardboard to the bottom. I then glued a piece of fabric on the cardboard to make it more pretty. The outside and inside of the tin don’t match perfectly, but I like it. I am going to hide personal girl items under the flap. Here is what the tin looks like:
Wow Wenseday! July 21, 2010
Hi Everybody. I was struggling with two themes for wenseday…..Winedown Wenseday or Wow Wenseday. Well I picked this one. I read so many great blogs everyday. I get my inspration for all types of posts. Crafts posts, fashison post, and even everyday what I did today posts give me inspriation. I love reading post that make me laugh, smile, want to make something, or even cook something. I am following alot of blogs, but I try to read ever new post. It takes me a while but I do it. Today I want to mention three blogs that I think are just great and I really enjoy. I will post a blog about 3 more next Wenseday and so on. Everyone is trying to promote them selves, but today I want to promote others:
Mich L. in LA: She was one of the 1st blogs I subscribed to and one of the reasons I started this blog. I won my first contest from her blog and won tons of great craft stuff. She is one of the most creative bloggers I have seen on here or seen anywhere. She can take a salt shaker, or even a birdie and make beautiful jewlery. She is also very funny. I laugh everytime I read a post. She is such a nice woman and leaves nice and warm comments.
Saved by Love Creations: She is so talented when it comes to clay. She make beautiful clay pendents, earings, and even home decor pieces. She has great ideas for gifts. She is such a sweet lady her comments are so nice. She really gets in there and explains things. She makes pieces with such texture and colors and then lets you know that it was not that hard to do. (I am still neverous to try.)
Purple Cholat Home: If you love cooking this is one of the blogs to check out. She has some of the nicest recipes I have seen. I look at her beautiful pictures and think omg I can never cook that, but once I read the post everything seems so simple. She is also such a nice lady and leaves the nicest comments. I love reading her posts they make me feel like I am on vaction. I know that sounds odd, but it does.
I just want to stay thank you to these ladies for being so nice and also being followers of mine as I am of them. Go check them all out and show them the love and kindness they show upon others.
Hoo are You? & Tip Tuesday! July 20, 2010
Hi everybody if you haven’t noticed I am trying to have a different theme for each day. Some weeks I won’t have all the days with a theme, but this week I am trying. Monday was Makin it My Way and Today is Tip Tuesday. Also today I like joining in on Night Owl Crafting’s Hoo are you? This gives all of you a better view about me. What I like, What I don’t like, and so on. So lets get started:
Makin it My Way Monday: Ponytail Holder July 19, 2010
Hi Everyone. I wanted to do another makin it my way monday. I have made alot of flowers through out the past and I really like the smiple layered circle flower. All you basically do is cut out circles and stich them together and tada Flower! Easy and fast I love it. Well I wanted to make some cute hair things. I noticed I wear my hair in a ponytail or in a bun alot….which means I wear tons of scrunchies and ponytail holders. So I made one of the layered circle flowers and added it to a ponytail and got my flower ponytail holder. Well I am going to tell you how to make it just to help you out and show you hold fast and easy this is.
Foto (Photo) Friday: Part 2 July 18, 2010
Hi everyone! So part one I showed different items on mostly wooden backdrops. In this post I will show you different backdrops, items, and give you more tips. In this post I will show you some of my knits and different ways I took photos of them. The first item is a personal scarf of mine I knitted about a year ago:
This scarf was also wraped around a tree, but I let the tree show a bit this time. I also got closer in to caputure this flower detail stiched onto the end of the scarf. In this photo you can tell the color of the scarf, that its thin, and the detail on the ends. Sometimes you don’t need a full frame picture of an item to create a nice shot. A great time to taking a shot this close is use that zoom button, but only the picture become alittle blurry zoom out alittle and remember to keep the camrea as still as you can. I shot this without a tripod, but a tripod is a great tool to keeping everything as still as possible and your photo won’t be blurry. The next items are three knitted braclets and they have a different backdrop and two different angles that I shot them at:
This backdrop is just a smiple piece of white fabric. You can use a sheet, pillowcase, shirt, or just a piece of fabric. Crop the photo so the item is the main foucs. Rember you don’t need the whole item in the shot. So the fact that the yarn is cut off in the 1st pic is on. The next photo is a nice way to show how the braclet will look on. Agian you don’t need your whole hand or arm in the photo. you want to make sure you can see the braclet clearly. Of course I took this photo with one hand and later on went into a photo editor and cropped it down. The item at hand is always center of attention so zoom in, crop around the item, and make it look good.
Well thats all the photos and tips for this Foto (Photo) Friday. I made have more items next Friday or maybe a different subject all together. Thanks for reading the blog and I hope I helped someone out. One more good tip is take seveval photos you can always hit delete if you don’t like one.
